Lakewood softball earns return trip to Akron

Lakewood softball plated seven runs in one inning to down Maysville, 10-0, in the D-II regional final at Pickerington Central on Saturday.

Pitcher Courtney Vierstra twirled a shutout for Lakewood while junior classmate Brenna Brownfield smacked a grand slam. The Lady Lancers will meet Akron Archbishop Hoban in the state semifinal Friday at 12:30 p.m. 

Outright MVL champion Maysville finished the year with a 24-3 overall mark.
