Land Bank Holds First Meeting of 2026
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Land Reutilization Corporation also known as the Land Bank has many blighted property renovations going on across the county.
Land Bank Executive Director Andy Roberts listed many of those projects and highlighted what was discussed during their first meeting of 2026.
“Most notably the former Holiday Inn,” We’ve got a few projects alongside that out on East Pike that we’ll be doing blight removal and demolition on. One down in Cannelville in Brush Creek, one in Blue Rock, a few in Newton Township, a few in Sonora, And then a few run down houses out in Union Township, a few structures up around Jackson. So we’ve got a good geographic distribution all over the county,” Roberts said.
The Land Bank works diligently behind the scenes with multiple agencies and organizations to purchase and renovate rundown properties finding ways which provide the least amount of expense to the taxpayers.
“So we’ve always tried to figure out a way to leverage both state and federal grant monies to get these projects completed. Very small amounts are coming from local monies. We do have to match the grants sometimes and we utilize the funds that the county is gracious enough to give us. But yeah, over the last 2-or-3-years we’ve acquired just shy of $12 Million dollars in grant funding to do brownfield and demolition projects within Muskingum County.”
The Land Bank also has multiple projects happening within the city of Zanesville and is working with other local entities to help make those properties safer and more relevant to 21st Century residents.
