Larry Long

Larry D. Long, 83, of Zanesville and formerly of Pleasant City, passed away Saturday (July 11, 2026) at his home.
He was born October 27, 1942 in Canton, son of the late Dale E. Long and Thelma (Hannum) Lafollette.
A 1960 graduate of Pleasant City High School, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy shortly after graduation and proudly served his country for twenty years.
Following his military career, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Zane State and went on to work as a corrections officer for the State of Ohio in London for six and a half years.
Larry was a devoted member of the United Church of God.
He found great joy in the outdoors – whether hunting, fishing, walking, traveling, or simply mowing his yard. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobbie Long.
Larry is survived by his children: Jodi Flinn of Mineral Wells WV, Staci Long of Pleasant City, and Bobby Long of Byesville; his grandchildren: Kendrick Flinn, Brendin Flinn, Alisha Flinn, Brycen Long, Kiara Long, and William Schmidt; and his great-grandchild, Jaxson Flinn.
No calling hours will be observed. No funeral service will be held at this time.
Larry will be laid to rest at the family farm at a later date.
