Laura McWhorter

Laura Louise McWhorter, 54, of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on July 17, 2026. She was born on September 11, 1971, to John McWhorter Sr. and Dorothy McWhorter.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her dad, Jim McWhorter; her significant other; her beloved son, Anthony Greeley; her brother, John “Muck” McWhorter Jr.; nephews, James, Blade, Steven, Jackson, and Terry; and her niece, Christina.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Jackiee “Jack” (Jason) Glass and Travis Greeley; her cherished grandchildren, Cheyanne, Robert, and Emma-Jo, along with several adopted grandbabies whom she loved as her own. She is also survived by her siblings, Oscar McWhorter, Christina Kirk, Terry McWhorter, Dorothy “Dork” (Jim Bob) Tolbert, and Willie McWhorter; her chosen sisters, Elizabeth (Shawn) Smith and Lillian Rimel Kramer; several nieces and nephews; and many other close friends and family members.

Laura’s grandchildren were the light of her life and truly her greatest joy. She enjoyed going to work, loved her soda pop, and treasured every moment spent with her family. Above all else, Laura’s love for those closest to her was unwavering. She will be remembered for her caring heart and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

In accordance with Laura’s wishes, cremation has been chosen. Burrell Funeral Services is honored to serve the McWhorter family.
