LaVere H. Jenkins (October 28, 1930 – April 14, 2015)

LaVere H. Jenkins died at home after a prolonged illness at 5pm on April 14, 2015.
LaVere was born October 28, 1930 in Freedom, Wyoming, the son of Philip and Ida May Haderlie Jenkins, the youngest of seven children. During the Korean War, he served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He then attended Utah State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Technology. After graduation, he worked for Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle, Washington. In 1969 he moved to Zanesville, Ohio and eventually made his home on a 40 acre farm in Muskingum Township where he raised 5 children and lived for the remainder of his life. In Zanesville he founded and served as CEO of Financial Administrative Services until his retirement. LaVere was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various lay leadership positions, including as the bishop of the LDS congregation in Zanesville from 1976 to 1981. He served on the Board of Directors of Zandex Health Care Corporation and on the Board of Trustees for the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 until his death.
LaVere was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lucile, Theras, Rella, Beulah, Carma, and Keith. He is survived by Rose Ellen Richardson Jenkins, his wife of 55 years, and his five children, Susan (Martin) Wyatt, David (Cara) Jenkins, Renee (Eric) Chambers, Neil Jenkins, and Brent (Laura) Jenkins, and twelve grandchildren.
Viewing hours will be Sunday April 19, 2015 from 2-6pm at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held on Monday April 20, 2015 at 1pm in the Zanesville chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 3300 Kearns Drive. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park.
