Law Enforcement combined Forces for Drug Bust
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Seven Law enforcement teams conducted search warrants on five residences for the Guernsey County Drug raid.
The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team, Cambridge SWAT, Monroe County Special Response Team, Byesville Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, The Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and Muskingum County Special Response Team were the agencies who participated in the drug bust. Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the officers who participated pre-planned, had a briefing that morning, and followed orders to serve warrants around the same time.
“In these situations it’s very common for us if we’re getting multiple locations to have multiple teams and we kind of coordinate that through the radio to be able to go at the same time,” Sheriff Matt Lutz said. “We’re basically not giving anybody a chance to alert anybody else.”
According to the Guernsey County Prosecutors Office’s the residences were located in the 100 block of South Twelfth Street in Cambridge, 400 block of North Ninth Street in Cambridge, State Route 209, Quaker City, and Old Washington.
Ohio has 88 Sheriff’s Offices and according to Sheriff Lutz they all have a mutual aid agreement and they’ve all been trained to work with other agencies.
“These teams get together, they do training once or twice a year,” Sheriff Lutz said. “They’ll have some regional training and so we’ll bring five or six teams together and we’ll practice working together. So it should be very reassuring to our citizens to know that we have the resources there to take care of anything that comes up.”
The Guernsey County Prosecutors Office listed Law enforcement located Methamphetamine, Heroin, Crack Cocaine, illicit pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, cell phones, weapons, and money during the drug bust.
