Law firm proposes opiate lawsuit on behalf of Muskingum County

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- As the opioid epidemic continues to rise law firms are now working to hold the drug companies accountable.
A law firm from Cleveland made a quick trip to Zanesville today to talk with the county Board of Commissioners about launching a lawsuit against big pharma on behalf of Muskingum County. The two lawyers, Jason Rappaport and Andrew Yuspeh of Yuspeh Rappaport Law LLC say Muskingum County has been hit hard by opioids and that the county deserves justice.
“My partner Andrew and I are very excited to be part of this litigation and we believe that Muskingum County is a county that could benefit from hiring us and being on the same team with us to fight the opioid makers and distributors and to bring justice to all the people in Muskingum County that have ruined their lives and their finances due to this epidemic.”
The firm talked to the commissioners about the cost of the lawsuit ensuring that it won’t cost the county a dime. The lawyers say the focus is not on the money, but holding the drug companies responsible so they can’t do something like this again.
“It’s important to go after the drug companies because if we just shut our mouths they’re gonna do this again and again and keep on taking advantage of us. The only thing that … these drug companies is when they pay money to people they’ve hurt.”
In close, the firm told the commissioners that they believe Muskingum County could play a leadership role in the fight against the drug companies. They say this lawsuit could set the bar for others across the country.
“My partner and I believe that Muskingum County has been so seriously affected by this that they have to play a leadership role, if you will, to go after these distributors and manufacturers and make them pay and set an example for the entire United States of America.”
