Lawsuit filed against Zanesville repairman

Courtroom

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine, announced a lawsuit Monday against a Zanesville man that has repeatedly failed to deliver promised heating and cooling services to Ohio consumers.

The lawsuit accuses, Alan Vohs, of Alan Able Heating and Cooling, for doing business that violates Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practice Act and Home Solicitations Act.

In 2016, the Muskingum County Common Pleas Court entered a judgement against Vohs for similar violations after the Ohio Attorney General’s Office filed a consumer protections lawsuit against him in 2015. Vohs was ordered to pay $7,912 to reimburse nine consumers. He was not permitted to work until he fulfilled his obligations under the judgement.

The new lawsuit said Vohs had made no payments under the 2016 judgement and continues to take money from consumers for services he never provides or work that was badly done.

11 additional consumers have filed complaints since the previous case.

The lawsuit seeks reimbursement for consumers and an injunction to prohibit Vohs from engaging in consumer transactions in Ohio.

Consumers that suspect an unfair or deceptive service, should contact the Ohio Attorney General’s Office www.OhioProtects.org or 800-282-0515.
