Legislative Leaders See Bright Future for Muskingum County
ZANESVILLE, OH – Legislative Leaders had the chance to talk about new initiatives and things they would like to see grow here in Muskingum County.
State Representative of the 97th District, Adam Holmes, said he expects there will be a boom to the business industry for our area.
He believes Muskingum County is in the perfect place geographically to be able to witness the next big steps.
“I think there’s going to be a lot of growth in business and industry around here to our west,” Holmes said. “Energy development, to our east, that will bring a lot of benefits to us here because we’re workers, we have a great workforce and a lot of strong community support and we’re the place to be to have this all to start.”
Congressman Troy Balderson, said something he would like to see our area do is create more opportunities for the kids.
“In this Appalachian region, I think there’s so much going on now,” Balderson said. “It’s an exciting time for our kids to have growth for jobs and prosperity and that’s one of my top priorities, and I’m really excited about that. I talked a little about it here, some of the meetings I’m having, what these data facilities that are coming here but the industrial opportunities that are coming here, so we’re really excited.”
Senator Al Landis also stressed the importance of the difference that small Mom and Pop shops can make on the local economy.
“We don’t want them to become dinosaurs and you know when the truck is loaded up with equipment and the gates are locked, it’s too late to help,” Landis said. “This is what is so important to me is that I stay in contact with especially our small businesses and react. You’ve got to tell me what’s going on, they’ve got to tell me we’ve got a problem here, can we work together?”
As state leaders focus on business growth, learning opportunities, and support for small businesses, they believe Muskingum County is poised for a promising future, driven by a strong workforce and a community ready to embrace new opportunities.
