Leslie (Les) G. Smith
Les Smith passed away at home on the morning of February 24, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born September 9, 1930 at Stockport, Ohio the son of the late Florence M. Mummey and Frank R. Smith.
He served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion. He was retired from Mattingly Foods, and also worked at Ohio Power and Central Ohio Coal during his lifetime. He enjoyed working the elections, and was a member of Rolling Plains United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his grandson, Damon Smith (Kara) Kieffer of Zanesville; great-granddaughter Rowan Raine Kieffer; sister Gwendolyn Wagner of Beverly, Ohio; and daughter-in-law Tamara (Bryan, Vivian and Savannah) Cheeseboro of Maryland, along with many special friends and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Antill Smith whom he married October 9, 1956, and died April 24, 2001; and his son, Keith R. Smith born July 11, 1967, and died July 22, 2001.
To honor his request, his remains are to be cremated. No calling hours or service will be observed. SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD,ZANESVILLE is in charge of the arrangements.
