Library Aims to Make Friday the 13th Lucky

Friday the 13th is deemed an unlucky day by many but, the library system wanted to give people a chance to turn that luck around.

The Muskingum County Library System is having a fine forgiveness day this Friday the 13th at all six branches. We spoke to Assistant Director Blair Tom and he tells us the goal is to make library resources more available.

“Customers that have a fine on their their record can select one over-due fine and that would be waved from their record, and this is just a goal to make library resources more available so that all people can access the electronic, print and computers at their six locations,” said Tom.

Tom told us that they understand that life happens, and they wanted to do something for their customers to allow them a second chance.

“Occasionally, we try to do something to help get their cards in order. We understand that life happens and we don’t want it to be a difficult thing; and this is just a way we can do it. And Friday the 13th seemed like a novel time to give people this opportunity,” said Tom.

The fine forgiveness day will be this Friday at all Muskingum County Library Branches. This does not apply to materials that have been lost or damaged.
