ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Mark your calendars, the John McIntire Library will be reopening a month ahead of schedule.

Muskingum County Library System Marketing and Community Relations Director Sean Fennell conveyed how diligent the contractors have been and how everything has gone right.

“We have been very fortunate so far that everything has been going really wonderfully. And of course, you know to APG Architects and you know Paul Construction, thank you so much for all the hard work they have done keeping us on schedule and moving forward with all of our projects. And of course, Library Design Associates as well. So we have a lot of incredible people that we’re working with that are helping us stay on schedule,” Fennell said.

Over decades, lifestyles, technology and social necessities evolve to require new and modified accommodations, which libraries must keep pace with to stay relevant in the community.

“It had been over 30 years since the last renovation of the John McIntire Library and we knew that we had the square footage in the building but at that time we realized that it really wasn’t where everything needed to be. The layout wasn’t right to meet the needs of new library users and what libraries are becoming and have become in our communities. And so this was the time for us to make sure that we addressed that,” Fennell said.

So mark your calendars for Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd, to celebrate the return to full service with exciting new activities and experiences that will demonstrate how the library can make a bigger impact in your life.
