Library hosts Summer Experience Program

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Library System has launched their Summer Experience Program for 2017.
The program runs until August 5th and will include a number of events at the John McIntire Library, and is not just focusing on reading. The four key focuses for the program are read, discover, learn and create.
“This summer our program will focus on those four areas. Students will get credit for not only reading but also for visiting locations in Muskingum County or participating in discovery stations and creation stations this summer [like] arts and crafts and science,” said Cory Roush, school-age literacy specialist.
The credit they receive will accumulate over the summer where kids can then use their credit to choose prizes at the end. In addition to reading and activities, Roush said some of the events are more than just a learning experience.
“You know reading throughout the summer is obviously very important just because you want to be ready for school and the end of the summer, jump back into the swing of things, but it’s also just experiencing new things that families don’t always have the opportunity to,” said Roush.
Activities range from live music, to exotic animals and of course story time. Some events require early registration and others are available to attend the day of. To register for any of the events contact the John McIntire Library’s Childrens Desk at (740) 453-0391 ext. 115.
