Library Offers Gathering Space

There’s now more opportunity to use the John McIntire Library as a gathering place.

The library has repurposed two reading rooms in the back of the main floor as drop-in meeting areas. These rooms can be used by business leaders, for volunteers planning a project or for those tutoring.

“First come, first serve. Stop at the reference desk or the children’s desk and you can schedule up to a two hour session and then you just report back when you’re finished and they’ll lock the room up, until the next group comes,” said Assistant Director Blair Tom.

The library said the new spaces compliment what they already offer in terms of gathering space.

“We’re very excited that it really enhances one more step of that community gathering space. We have an auditorium. We have library. We have reading chairs and areas available to people. We have a lobby where people can meet and sit and use wi-fi. Now we just have one more option,” said Tom.

These meeting rooms were designed because in their strategic planning the community identified the need for a small meeting area as one of their desires for the library.
