Licking County Sheriff’s Office K-9 dies after being struck by car

LICKING COUNTY, Ohio–The Licking County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that its K-9 Apollo has died.
Authorities said that shortly after 8:00 a.m. Apollo escaped from his handler after working overnight.
The Sheriff’s Office said that around 9:45 a.m. K-9 Apollo was located near 7290 Havens Corners Road in Franklin County and appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.
Apollo was taken to a nearby veterinary hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Apollo served the Licking County Sheriff’s Office for the past 6 years.
The incident remains under investigation.
