Licking County student arrested for making school shooting threat

HEBRON, Ohio– A 14-year-old Licking County student has been arrested Wednesday evening for making a school-related threat.

Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp said that Lakewood High School sent out a survey to students over the weekend on their school-issued Chromebooks, asking for student input regarding school safety, with the responses set to anonymous.

Sheriff Thorp said the student responded stating the intent to sneak a gun into the school and shoot a specific student.

Detectives confirmed the origin of the message and the student was charged with aggravated menacing and has been committed to a juvenile detention facility.

The student’s initial appearance in Licking County Juvenile Court is scheduled for Thursday.
