Starting the Friday after Thanksgiving, and then proceeding right through Christmas we intend to honor a different individual or organization who have changed the lives of Muskingum Countians. We will do this by having them “LIGHT” our Tree at 6:11PM  on our Newscast. You are encouraged to submit names of people and organizations to be honored. We will select and then invite them up for their special Lighting. Briefly explain why they were chosen and then give the countdown to light up the Tree. The honoree will hit the switch and wish everyone a Merry Christmas on air, and then we will proceed to our weather forecast.

This will go on right through ADVENT,  the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, skipping Sundays, and proceeding Monday through Friday live at 6:11 and then play it taped for our 11pm forecast. On Saturdays we will have the Lighting pre taped and ready for a debut at 11pm, since there is no 6pm Newscast.  We also have plans to highlight the lit Tree from 6:11 till 11:30 each night on WHIZNEWS.COM.

We intend to bring the Christmas Spirit and the celebration of “Community” into the homes and lives  of our Viewers and Listeners, and we look forward to making it an annual tradition. This “LIGHTING OF THE TREE” is the best way for us to honor and strengthen the things that make Muskingum County special.
