ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The United Under the Lights softball game last week had a great turnout.

Over 500 people attended the game to watch the Zanesville Police and Fire Departments play against the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office. Executive Director of United Way, Meg Deedrick, said they were able to raise over $5,000 to go towards the community.

“I’m so grateful for the first responders in our community, not only for what they do everyday, but they were the first to respond to united way’s campaign,” said Deedrick.

Deedrick said the donations mean a lot to them – it shows they have people fighting with them for the health, education and financial stability. She said at the end of the day, their goal is to make the community stronger.

“We really want to get in those workplaces, we want to get in those schools, we want to talk to folks, see what they’re having to say and also let them know how their hard earned money is at work,” said Deedrick.

Deedrick said they want the community’s feedback on where they think help is needed. You can find more information on their website at unitedwayofmpm.org.
