Linda Lanning

Linda K. Lanning, 82, of Zanesville, passed away at 9:53 a.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville, following a decline in health. She was born October 8, 1943, in Zanesville, the daughter of the late Harry H. Glosser and Edith L. (Plumb) Glosser. Linda married the love of her life, Richard E. Lanning, Sr., on June 14, 1963, and together they shared more than 57 years of marriage before his passing.
Linda worked for many years as the head cook at the Abbott Home, where she was especially known for her bread dressing and chicken salad. She loved the simpler things in life and treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Linda did not have many hobbies, but her favorite pastime was sitting on her porch, talking with neighbors, friends, and family – whether in person or over the telephone. Those who knew her well will surely remember her warmth, kindness, and the joy she found in everyday conversations.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Richard E. Lanning, Jr.; her daughter, Cheryl (Dennis) Schultheis; her grandchildren, Ryan (Raychelle) Steele and Cody (Kelly) Steele; her great-grandchildren, Ryder, Rylee, Theodore, and Cameron Steele; her brother, Harold (Linda) Glosser; her sister, Nancy (Bob) Bates; her sister-in-law, Sally Dingey; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard E. Lanning, Sr.; her great-grandson, Raylan Steele; her brother, Jeffery Glosser; and her grandparents, Frank and Elizabeth Euman, and several brothers & sisters-in-law.
Linda will be laid to rest beside her husband in Zanesville Memorial Park, with private family graveside services. To sign the online guestbook or leave a personal note of condolence, please visit hilliscombsfh.com.
