Linda Wagstaff

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Linda A. Wagstaff. Linda was born January 24, 1940, and passed away on April 6, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends. Her journey of 86 years was one of humor, creativity, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
She was born Linda Ann Christian in Cambridge, Ohio and lived in what was then known as the East Pike. Linda was outgoing, athletic and artistic, with a deep affection for animals. She made friends easily and some of those friendships remained all through her life. She and her high school sweetheart, Ed Wagstaff graduated from Brown High School in 1957. They were married shortly after. They started a home and family in Indian Camp, Ohio, in northern Guernsey County. Along came three kids and a large collie dog named “Doc.” In addition to being a working mom, Linda was a den mother and active participant in the Indian Camp Grange where, for many years, she and Ed designed and built the Guernsey County Fair booths for the Grange.
Later, Linda and Ed moved into Cambridge. Linda was the bookkeeper for several local businesses, including Milfair, Donohue’s Hilltop Supply, The Advertiser, and Sherwin Williams Co. She also worked seasonal jobs for The Peterson Co. and JC Penney. Her creative interests included decorating, sewing, quilting, and knitting. She also tried her hand at league softball and bowling.
Because of their love of local history and architecture, Ed and Linda bought an 1830 Federal brick home in Old Washington, Ohio known as the Mahaffee House. The house had been the home of Linda’s ancestral family (Umstott.) For over thirty years they worked restoring and creating a lovely home which she shared with her two westies, Pickles and Noodles.
Of all the places Linda lived, Old Washington was her favorite. Ed and Linda were involved in the Old Washington community through the village council, helping to create the village playground and park. They also were involved in the Old Washington 200th Anniversary, chicken barbecues, historical reenactments, tours, and other community events.
In addition to her parents, Donald and Jeanette Christian, Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Edwin (Ed) Wagstaff. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John (Jack) Christian.
Linda is survived by daughter, Rebecca Wagstaff of Old Washington, Ohio; her sons, William (Bill) Wagstaff (Roxanne Wagstaff) and Edwin (Bud) Wagstaff (Aimee Wagstaff) of Cambridge, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Carol Christian; five grandchildren, Christopher Wagstaff (Jennifer), Cale Wagstaff (Jackie), Cassandra Wagstaff, Evan Wagstaff, Patrick Wagstaff; several great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:30pm-7pm with the service to begin at 7pm. Pastor Wes Jones will officiate. Memorial donations may be made in Linda’s honor to the Guernsey County Animal Shelter 62824 Bennett Avenue Cambridge, Ohio 43725 or to Hospice of Guernsey at P.O. Box 1165 Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
