Linden Ave. repaving project is underway

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Parts of Linden Ave. will be repaved Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, June 2nd.
After much anticipation, crews will work to repave the road Tuesday to Friday from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Mayor, Jeff Tilton, said to expect long delays if planning on traveling around the area.
“Parts of Linden will be open, but people need to understand that on the side streets, we will have it closed off so that they won’t be able to come off a side street onto Linden Ave., said Tilton. If they are coming down Linden Ave., there will be periods where they’ll be stopped or held for long periods of time depending on where the paving or milling crew is at.”
Chip Saunders, the City Engineer said plans for this project began in 2014 with a drainage project, because the infrastructure below the surface was not ready to be paved. This is why the process of repaving has taken longer than expected.
“The area of Linden Ave. between Norwood Blvd. and Hoge used to flood really bad, said Saunders. It caused some issues with the residents there and also AK Steel. We did about a $700,000 drainage project.”
Jeff Shook, the Street Superintendent, said the cost of the repavement project was $280,000.
