Local 4H Club Challenges other Clubs with Food Drive

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local 4-H Club is challenging other groups to get involved with a food drive.

The West Ridge 4-H Club is hosting the food drive and are asking for non-perishable foods that will be donated to Eastside Community Ministry. The food drive will be held on Saturday, March 16th, from 9 to 2PM at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds’ North Stage.

Lori Wilson, the Organizational Officer and 4-H Advisor for West Ridge, said they wanted to teach the children in her club about community service and talked about the challenge for other 4-H Groups.

“We’re doing a pizza challenge for all the other 4-H Clubs,” Wilson said. “We’re asking whoever brings in the most food, our club is going to take them 10 pizzas to a meeting of their choice so that this is kind of a fun thing to do.”

She said this will be a great experience for all of the kids involved because they will have to learn how to work together while doing community service.

Kenzie Hill, another 4-H Advisor for West Ridge, said they want to get as many people involved as they can.

“It goes beyond just our club,” Hill said. “If we can get more involved that means more food that we can donate.”

If you are not a member of a 4-H Club and still want to make a donation you can. When you make your donation on Saturday, tell the food collector your donation is going to the Friends of Muskingum County.
