Local Art Studio to Host Fleece Tie Blanket Workshop for the Community

Fleece Tie Blankets

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local Art Studio is looking to give back to the community this weekend with an outreach project.

This Saturday, Julie’s ARTery will be hosting a Fleece Tie Blanket Workshop from 1 to 3 PM.

Volunteer’s will be cutting and then tying the two layers of fabric together to make the blankets.

The blankets will then be donated to a local church to be handed out to those in need.

Julie Goodall, the Owner of Julie’s ARTery, said she’s hosting this event because of a promise she made to a friend.

“One of our instructors, Lois Frame, had several big pieces of fleece that she was going to do with her students at school.” Goodall said. “She’s a retired teacher, but she would have the students do it in a way to give back to the community. She has since retired and she has all of this extra fleece and she asked me several months ago if this is something we could offer and I needed to keep that promise.”

Goodall said she hopes everyone who receives one of these blankets feels loved, warm, and thought of.

There will also be coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and snacks as well as time to meet some new friends.

“It’s nice to do something that’s not about you.” Goodall said. “It’s just getting together and making new friends, because everyone might not know each other when they come in to help out and also building a sense of community while giving something away.”

If you’d like to volunteer for the Fleece Tie Blanket Workshop, you can call Julie’s ARTery at 740-408-1237 or message them on Facebook.

Julie’s ARTery is located at 53 South 7th Street in Zanesville.
