Local Artist Unveils New Mural at Roseville Branch Library
ROSEVILLE, OH – The Roseville Library Branch has some fresh paint.
Local Zanesville artist Raymond Ramos was asked by the Muskingum Library System to paint a mural on the outside of the Roseville Library.
Ramos says he’s always enjoyed the people at the library and the programs they host for the community.
“On this one I wanted to bring some of the historical things into it. Of course, the pottery for Roseville, and Leslie Cope, you know, world renowned artist, and just bring some color.” Ramos said. “It totally looks different when I’m done from the idea I started with, it’s not that I’m trying to get away from my sketch, sometimes you just you go different places and that’s one thing I do love, murals and art in particular, is you don’t have to stay in one spot, you can go anywhere.”
Some of the historical highlights within the mural are some pottery pieces, books on pottery, and there’s even a fun interactive section where it looks like you’re using a pottery wheel.
Sean Fennell, the Marketing and Community Relations Director with the MCLS, says the mural has been up for about a month now and the community’s response has been amazing.
“We had a very lovely vase here at the Roseville Branch Library that had just seen its lifetime and it was a little bit worn out and we wanted something really bright and beautiful to bring some joy to our community.” Fennell said. “And so when we were looking at ways to replace the aged piece of art that had kind of had some hole in it and birds were potentially going in and out of it, so we wanted to make sure we were replacing existing art with something that had a huge impact and would bring a lot of joy to people.”
If you’d like to check out the new mural, the Roseville Branch Library is located at 41 N Main St. in Roseville.
