Local Author Gormley Publishes Debut Book
ZANESVILLE, OH – A local Author just published her first book.
Sarah Gormley was born and raised here in Zanesville and she also attended Philo High School.
She left the area to go to college and then her career took her to cities like Chicago, New York and San Francisco.
Gormley said this book, “The Order of Things” is about her homecoming to the area and how coming home changed her life in many ways.
“It’s really a story about me coming home to Ohio and more specifically to the family farm, which is in Chandlersville, Salt Creek Farm. It’s kind of how my life changed after that period of time,” Gormley said. “I started this career, a pretty big corporate career and as it turned out it wasn’t all that fulfilling. A sequence of events happened, my father passed away in ‘16 and mom’s cancer came back in ‘17 and it was just this moment in time where I went “I need to go home.”
Gormley says she wanted to document the emotional and professional changes that happened to her in a short amount of time.
“The Order of Things” was released on Tuesday and Gormley said the response to it already has been amazing.
“That has been overwhelming and exceeded any expectation or hope I had,” Gormley said. “You do something called advanced reader copies, so a group of people, some friends, some people I just trust their feedback, big readers, critics. So really, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and as a writer, of course that’s what you want.”
