Local Author Publishes New Christian Fiction Book
Through her new book, one local author is hoping to inspire others to answer God’s call.
Debby L, Johnston’s book, “Cherish: A Still, Small Call” takes readers on a journey through Andy Garrett’s life. Similar to the biblical tale of Abraham leaving the land of Ur, Garrett hears a still, small voice and feels compelled to leave his bartending job to embark on an unexpected adventure to find Christ.
“He takes the chance and he follows what he feels god’s leading him to do, he goes back to school, goes to seminary, and then ends up being led to a small country church in the middle of a bunch of cornfields, here he’s coming from a Chicago type area, so there’s a lot of interactions that take place because of that,” Johnston said.
Johnston and her husband, Scott, have lived in the Zanesville area for 30 years. She told us, as a minister’s wife, she feels inspired to write about situations like those in the churches where she and her husband served. After serving in many different churches, her accounts depict stories of everyday people who face challenges by drawing on God’s help to overcome them.
“The goal of the book is that we want people to realize that God still is active and still wants to be apart of our lives, and for us to be able to reach out to him and find him is important, and we shouldn’t neglect that,” Johnston said.
You can find Johnston’s book at your local bookstore, or on Amazon. It is also available for download on your Kindle.
