Local Band Director to Perform in Macy’s Parade

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local band director will be performing in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.
Chase Myers, a band director at Morgan High School, will be showcasing his musical skills by playing the alto sax in one of the country’s most celebrated holiday events. This opportunity follows his appearance in last year’s Rose Parade. Myers expressed his excitement about being a part of this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving celebration.
“Just to be here and be in the atmosphere is going to be really exciting. We have a big performance in Town Square, that will be cool. We’re playing there for everyone to see; it’s going to be really fun. I’m just looking forward to walking the route and getting to see everybody and be in the moment,” Morgan High School Band Director, Chase Myers said.
Myers will be playing alongside a marching band made up of 400 band directors from across the country, and rehearsals for the parade have been in full swing.
“We had about three hours of rehearsal last night and then another three this morning. Combining 400 different directors with different marching techniques and different styles, we’re all a little bit bossy and think we’re in charge. When you get us all together, it can be really interesting,” Myers said.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be broadcast live. Viewers can tune is to WHIZ NBC at 8:30am on Thursday.
