Local Band kicks off Summer Concert Series

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local band kicked off their Summer Concert Series on June 4th.
Zanesville Memorial Concert Band (ZMCB) held their first concert of the year at the Secrest Auditorium at 7 p.m. President of the ZMCB, Chad Stemm, explained the concert featured special guests of local high school students as part of the High School Honor Band.
“Of course we are going to start off with our National Anthem and play Strike Up The Band. We do have our High School Honor Band here and they will be part of the concert and of course both bands, the High School Honor Band and the Memorial Band, will join forces and play a few songs and end with Stars and Stripes Forever.”
While the band starts and ends with the same songs, Stemm said every concert is different with music appealing to all generations.
“We rotate all the pieces except for the opener and closer. Everything is completely programmed for each concert. We also try to use more modern literature, some newer arrangements, sometimes some easier arrangements, sometimes more challenging, but just something to appeal to people of all ages of different cultural liking’s.”
