Local batting cage business in full swing

Rain or shine, local baseball and softball players now have a new place in town to take some extra swings and get ready for the season.

Off Season Batting Cages is officially open for business year-round and seven days a week at 1510 Augusta Street in Zanesville. The 3,000 square-foot facility features four lanes and a pair of pitching machines.

"I feel like where you put your real work in is in the offseason," owner Shawon Glaub said. "It’s nice having the kids a place to come and that way they can practice when it’s raining outside."

The cages can be rented for individual players and entire teams. Though the sweet sound of aluminum is new to the building, the word is getting out fast.

"It’s been getting booked up very quickly," Glaub said. "People have been calling ahead, scheduling half hours and hours at a time, one lane to four lanes."
