Local Black Churches Unite to Support Christ’s Table
ZANESVILLE, OH – The St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church has partnered with several community allies to extend a helping hand to Christ’s Table during Black History Month.
St. Paul AME joined forces with the Nelson T. Gant Foundation along with various local black churches to contribute a generous donation of $1,700 to Christ’s Table. Not only did they donate money, but they also organized a successful food drive to further support this vital community resource. This collaborative effort represents the unity and compassion that defines the spirit of Black History Month.
“We feel great about it. It brings the community together and lets the community know that African American churches and foundations all work together. Presenting a check to Christ’s Table because it serves such a great thing in the community trying to stomp out hunger,” President of The Gant Foundation, Todd Ware said.
“I have been involved with it for quite some time. I’ve been in AME Church for over 30 years, and we have participated in the Super Bowl of Caring Network throughout my years here at St. Paul. We have been doing it for the last 20 years,” First Lady of St. Paul AME Church, Ruby Kilpatrick said.
This contribution will provide essential support to Christ Table’s mission of serving meals and providing assistance to those in need.
“This is so exciting, and the money will go a long way. It will provide almost 6,000 meals at Christ Table. It’s not all about the money. It’s about seeing all of these churches come together for a common mission, and that’s feeding the hungry people of God,” Christ’s Table Executive Director, Keely Warden said.
The other churches that helped with this donation include Wings of Hope Tabernacle, Apostolic Christian, Calvary Missionary Baptist, and Hands of Faith Church.
