Local Business Gives Back To Avondale Youth Center

Santa arrived a little early this year for children at the Avondale Youth Center.

Tis’ the season for giving back, as one local business is spreading some Christmas cheer. On Tuesday, the Ohio Stave Company donated $1,500 to the youth center to kick off its Christmas campaign. Director, Gary King, said the company’s contribution will go toward the organization’s annual Christmas fund, which includes Christmas presents and prom dresses.

“We feel great, it’s really generous of the Ohio Stave Company and their employees to make a donation to the Avondale Christmas Fund, there’s a lot of things we wouldn’t be able to do without generosity like that from the public,” King said.

Shift manager at the Ohio Stave Company, Earl Lowder, said the company decided to give back to the youth center, because it’s an organization that hits close to home.

“We have a lot of shift members who are very familiar with this area, and it was the first name that came up on the list,” Lowder said. “It feels great, knowing we’re going to help some of these children, it’s a good feeling.”

The youth center will host its annual “Olde-Fashioned Avondale Christmas” celebration on November 21. The event is free and open to the public.
