Local Businesses Hope to Further Restore Local Park
25 runners came out to support Restoration Park on Muskingum Avenue Sept. 6.
The park is rarely used and local business owners are working to change that with further restoration. They held the first ‘Putnam 5-K Restoration Run’ to begin raising money to make the park a more visited area in Zanesville.
“We’re looking at historical records right now and photographs of what this park originally looked like and we’re going to try to work with a local landscape architect and see if we can get some plans to bring back some of the original pieces that were here,” said Weasel Boy Brewery Owner Lori Wince.
Wince said that the Putnam area has a lot to offer the community and she and other other local owners are hoping to help people see the potential in the park.
“There’s still a bit of a negative perception about the Putnam area and I guess we just want folks to know it is safe to come down here and this area has a lot to offer,” said Wince.
Some roads were closed to make running areas safe for runners taking on the 5-K.
