Local firemen spend holiday with “second family”

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- First responders are no strangers to working on holidays like Thanksgiving. We stopped by the Zanesville Fire Department to see how they are spending thanksgiving day with what they call their second family.
“The Zanesville Fire Department works 24/7,” Assistant Fire Chief Doug Hobson said. “There’s unfortunately is a shift that is on duty every holiday.”
“The fire department never closes,” Hobson said. “We gather a bunch of food. Heavenly Ham helped us out this year. Along with our the Local 88. The guys sat around the kitchen this morning making things up. Guys brought pies in and some of their favorite treats.”
“We spend the time with the brotherhood, Hobson added. “It’s our second family as you would call it. Here on this lovely Thanksgiving Day, but ready to still to service the community.”
“When that tone goes off, we are ready to do business,” Hobson said. “They guys still like to joke, crack up, and have a little bit of fun today. The guys just like to have a good time here during Thanksgiving. I would like to offer up a Happy Thanksgiving to all of our community on behalf of Zanesville Fire Department.”
