ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One area high school graduate’s wish came true Friday evening.

Philo High School hosted their 98th annual graduation on May 26th and one of those graduates had one final wish… to walk once again to receive his diploma. Alexander Tarmen has been wheel chaired bound since a young child and didn’t want his limitations to stand in the way of receiving his diploma. The Director of Special Services at Philo High School, Steve Rice, explains Alexander has worked hard and received a wealth of support in reaching his goal.

“This is all Alex’s idea, this is what he wanted to do so its pretty incredible journey that he’s taking on here this is a monumental task for him he’s worked really hard through therapy and two of the Secretaries that where at Duncan Falls in his elementary years helped him in the process. So they are going to be here tonight to help him through all of this.”

Alex is happy to be graduating and told us he plans on going to Zane State College to study Graphic Designing. Alex said his inspiration for graphic design cam from his love for video games. He wanted to thank three special individuals; Mr. Rice, Ms. Temple and Ms. Smith for making his dream come true.
