Local Life Scout Started ‘Little Free Pantries’ Project

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A local life scout created a project towards helping others.
Scott Moore started ‘Little Free Pantries.’ Moore explained that it is a box with shelves on a post that holds non perishable items and toiletries for the less fortunate to take the items out of. Anybody from the community can donate these items and put them inside of the pantry box. One box is located at Christ’s Table and the other is located at Coburn United Methodist Church.
“Canned food, we also put toilet paper and bottled water. Toothpaste and toothbrushes, that’s a good idea as well. Just anything that doesn’t go bad, that would be easy to prepare. We also have dry stuff, like pasta, things like that are easy to get in and get out,” Moore said.
Moore said it creates an opportunity for community members to give back and donate items. He also added that the idea of building the boxes is for him to take on a leadership role and inspire others to build more.
“It’s just good to start something. And it’s a really big benefit just to see something come together that you put together,” Moore mentioned.
Moore would like to see the boxes last for as long as they can.
