Local Organization Celebrates Its 31st Birthday

Nearly 400 people came out to celebrate a major milestone.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation’s celebrated its 31st  birthday Friday night along with a Groundhog Day Auction at the Ohio University Zanesville/ Zane State Campus Center. CEO Brian Wagner said this event is a great way to celebrate and raise money for the community.

“The big reason why we are also celebrating, we’re celebrating two local individuals Larry Triplett the winner of the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award and also Joey Pennybaker Osborn who is the recipient of the Community Leadership Award. So this is a great opportunity to recognize those two for the great work they have done and raise some money in a silent auction and live auction and of course to help out the community,” said Wagner.

Wagner said if you’ve never been to one of these celebrations you can expect to have lots of fun with friends and members of the community.

“That’s one of the nice thing about having it now, you’ve been in the middle of winter and your kind of tired of it. This is that first opportunity really after the beginning of the new year to kind of get through the colder parts of the year to get out and celebrate and spend time with friends and family. It’s always very energetic and a lot of fun,” said Wagner.

All proceeds that are raised from this event will be donated in the spring grant competition.
