ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Now that the weather is getting cooler it’s time to start thinking about those less fortunate.

Olde Town Cleaners, The Salvation Army, and Women’s Auxiliary are working together to collect winter items for their Coats for Kids campaign. You can drop off coats at two locations on Maple Avenue.

“New coats. Used coats. Mainly we are trying to get younger coats for teenagers down to smaller kid’s coats,” Olde Town Cleaners, President David Frick said. “That’s the one we’re trying to emphasize the most on. We’ll have barrels at each of those stores. They can just bring them in and drop them off. We take coats in, clean them and bring them down here and distribute them.”

For those of you in need of winter items for your child, Coats for Kids will host a giveaway on Thursday, October 13th and Friday, October 14th at The Salvation Army on Putnam Avenue. The giveaway is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“When parents come they need to have their picture ID and the social security card of all their family members,” Women’s Auxiliary, member, Beth Archer said. “I also think it would be a good idea to try coats on that they had last year. See how they fit so they can get an idea of what size coat they are going to need this year.”

The Coats for Kids campaign handed out 612 coats in Muskingum County last year.
