Local partnerships provide school supplies for kindergarteners

ZANESVILLE, OH- Local community agencies have partnered together to help provide school supplies to kindergarteners for the fourth year now.
The Kindergarten Celebration School Supply Giveaway helps to ensure children who are transitioning into school for the first time have the supplies they need and get excited to start school.
“Every year after Christmas I get so super excited about putting this event together, and like I said I have some wonderful community partners that come together as a committee, so we split the duties and contact the vendors, contact different organizations to see if they want to contribute, Muskingum County is awesome about getting these kids ready for school and helping the parents relieve a little bit of the financial pressure as well,” said Muskingum County Family and Children First Coordinator, Marsha Tilton.
Some of the items that were donated this year include notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, markers, glue, scissors, folders, pencil boxes, books, backpacks, Clorox wipes, and tissues,
“Last year we took a survey of the schools and the vendors, and we used their ideas to create a better traffic flow this year, and to do things a little bit differently to make it easier on the parents and the kids, and make sure the kiddos, the kindergarteners have a great experience coming in,” said Tilton.
The Kindergarten Celebration School Supply Giveaway will return at Mid-East Career and Technology Center on Richards Road in 2025.
