Local Podcaster Competes in National Competition

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local podcaster is currently in 1st place in a national competition.

Victor Sherrick is the host of the Very Essential Show, which he describes as a mix of old late night tv shows with Johnny Carson and Conan O’Brien.

He entered into an iHeart Radio Podcast competition called the Next Top Host and says in the first heat he was dead last in 29th place, now he’s in 1st.

“There’s still 2 days to go for voting and I would encourage anyone to vote, not just because it helps me get to the next round, but there’s a charitable part to this too.” Sherrick said. “It supports the Ryan Seacrest Foundation which brings art, performance, and communications training to at-risk youth across the country.”

Sherrick writes the script, jokes, and songs included in each show but he’s the most proud of the interview spots within the show.

He says he’s interviewed people about the recent floods in our area, mental health, and other various topics.

“Instead of just doing what everybody else was doing, I said if I am going to do this, I’m going to do a podcast I’ve always wanted to do.” Sherrick said. “Which involved old-time radio style comedy with the music that I write, with the comedy I write, and talk to people that I really care about.”

The current round of voting is set to end on Thursday.
