ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Homegrown produce is making a big splash at the Zanesville Farmers Market.

As temperatures continue to rise higher and higher, so does the demand for locally grown produce. Vendors at the farmers market are no strangers to the increasing demand and are welcoming it wholeheartedly.

“Produce season seems to really be in full swing and more people are feeling comfortable about coming out here and buying it locally,” said PJ Hinkle, farmers market vendor. “I’ve been selling tomatoes out of my home since the first week of June and we’ve also got fresh sweet corn, zucchini and onions so overall it’s been a great year for produce.”

The demand for fresh produce is also having a positive effect on the number of customers visiting the farmers market as well.

“I feel like every week, especially here at Wednesday Market, we’ve grown a little bit crowd wise,” said Kristen Baughman, farmers market vendor. “It seems like the more produce that is available, the more people come out so that’s just been great.”
