Local Residents React To The Cold

The anticipated cold air has finally arrived and many Southeast Ohio residents felt it has come too soon.

The average high is about 53 degrees for this time of the year, and the recent cool down has left temperatures about 20 degrees below normal. We talked to area residents about the weather Friday afternoon. Tyler Bay was hanging Christmas lights at Zane’s Landing.

"It just came out of nowhere. Like, we didn’t expect it. That’s why we had to do all this. We’ve been in a rush lately because we didn’t expect all this cold weather to hit us so fast. Roofs and stuff get real slippery, but, it’s really that wind-chill that’s been crushing us. It’s going right though all your clothes."

Many other individuals we spoke to weren’t thrilled by the drastic freeze. However, the geese at Putnam Landing did not seem to be affected by the winter weather. As far as strategy goes for keeping warm, we received a few different responses. Many of those included moving around and wearing lots of layers.

Relief from the cold snap is not expected to arrive anytime soon.
