Local Village Employee Honored
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many people switch employers multiple times throughout their working career and never get recognized for the efforts they’ve put in.
Monday, Village of South Zanesville Village Administrator and Water Superintendent Danny Wiseman was recognized by the Muskingum County Commissioners for his 46 plus, years of service to the community.
“I actually started out to work three weeks,” Wiseman said. “I worked for a guy that had an appendicitis attack and they ended up keeping me on and I just kept moving up over the years when the positions opened up. When I first started out, I went door to door reading water meters. So you get to know the public. And we’ve got a pretty good town with the people and stuff there.”
Wiseman began working for the village in 1979, when he was 18-years-old and has filled many roles over the years in service to his community. He has seen many changes over the years and has enjoyed getting to know many of the residents while working with multiple mayors and village council members.
“Several mayors and councils over the years and the ways of doing… running the village and things like that, you know they’ve… they make changes. Most of them to the good, some not but it just depends on the mayor and council,” Wiseman said. “(I) More or less run the village for the council. That was being the administrator’s job. Run the water department. I did all the sampling and all the tests and everything that the EPA required to do.”
Wiseman said he enjoys living in South Zanesville and noted that getting along with people has been the key to his long tenure.
