Local YouTube Content Creator Turns Professional
A local hobbyist and YouTube content creator has turned professional.
"We have been back for two years now and I can honestly say it was a great decision," said John Saunders.
An internationally known YouTuber and self-taught machinist returns home to Zanesville from New York City to further his career and start a family.
"I don’t think of myself as being known anywhere I just enjoy what I do. But, it is pretty cool and crazy to think about how anybody can do this," said Saunders.
John Saunders, Owner of NYC CNC and now Saunders Machine Works went to college in the northeast and got a desk-job in New York City.
"I was working a day job and starting doing this at nights and weekends and just thought NYC CNC was short and simple and I never thought it would turn into anything like this," said Saunders.
With what started off as a hobby, resulted in a life long career. Saunders has reached over 100,000 people that subscribed to his YouTube channel. John tackles subjects such as metal-working, machining, fabrication, prototyping and much more through his YouTube tutorials twice a week.
"One is called the Wednesday Widget and the idea is every week, we do a different type of part or product it’s not necessary industry specific," said Saunders.
On Fridays John said the focus is on a new piece of software called fusion 360 from Auto Desk he said his YouTube channel is his way of ”Paying it forward" to all those who have helped him learn along the way.
"I wouldn’t change it for the world, we run the YouTube channel because of the content and being able to take these ideas and help people," said Saunders.
John said while he’s back in Zanesville he plans to continue educating and working with the youth and local schools to try to get kids interested in fabrication at a young age.
