ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Eastside Community Ministries teamed up with First Baptist Church of Zanesville for the 1st indoor fresh produce market.

This is not your typical market because no money will be exchanged. This market is for low income families in muskingum county. Eastside Community Ministries partnered with First Baptist Church and held the market indoors at First Baptist Church’s Gym.

“This is our first indoor produce market. We’ve had since 2002 we’ve has outdoor produce markets when the weather’s good. The food comes from Mid-Ohio Food Bank in Columbus,” said Linda Hollingsworth.

Hollingsworth said there will be two more indoor markets held in February and March. She says in 2015 the outdoor market handed out more than 42,000 of food.

“Most of which is produce. Our goal and Mid-Ohio’s goal is to feed people that need food especially when we can give then healthy food that’s a plus,” said Hollingsworth.

“This is a fantastic opportunity, our partnership with Eastside goes back many many years. We’ve been a consistent supporter of their ministries. To be able to partner with them and to be able to provide produce for those that need it, inside instead of it being outside specially in the winter months. Is a blessing,” said Rev. Joe Seese.
