Locals will pray and provide recovery
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Pastors, first responders, and addiction recovery resources are commencing ‘Operation Outreach.’
Overdoses have hit an all time high and now the community is joining prayer and resources to get through the epidemic. According to Zanesville Fire Chief Eric Waltemire last year the City of Zanesville had a total of 156 overdoses for the year and this year we’ve already had 57.
“In two months we’ve had about one-third of what we had all of last year,” Chief Waltemire said. “So anything we can do to try to decrease and hopefully eliminate this problem in our community, we’re all for it. You know from the city’s aspect, because it does take a tool on your resources and your personnel.”
Rushing Wind Biker Church’s Pastor, Michael McGuire has teamed up with Salvation Army to hold ‘Operation Outreach’. Which is a five-day session where local churches and community members can pray for those effected by substance abuse. As well as local recovery resources will be available to assist with getting people into recovery.
“We’re hoping that folks will come from the community. Pastors and congregational members coming together and let’s fight this thing,” Pastor McGuire said. “Let’s get this thing under control, let’s fight it with the power of prayer and our local resources and let’s get this thing done. Let’s see the City of Zanesville stand up together.”
‘Operation Outreach’ will take place at the Salvation Army Monday March 5, 2018 through Friday March 9, 2018 between 9:00 A.M. and 10:00 A.M. For more information call the Salvation Army at (740) 452-8350.
