Longtime Area Banker Dies

A longtime area banker has died. 63-year-old John Kozak passed away this week. Kozak started his career in 1977 as a Certified Public Accountant in Columbus, Ohio. In 1980 he joined Mutual Federal Savings & Loan in Zanesville as Chief Financial Officer. In 1991 Kozak started working for Park National Bank in Newark, Ohio. He was a Zanesville Rosecrans High School Graduate, where he was the school’s all time leading scorer in basketball and later elected to the first Hall of Fame Class in 2008. Kozak also has a legacy of volunteerism and community commitment. The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Visitation is set for Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm A memorial mass is set for Wednesday at St Nicholas Catholic Church in Zanesville. Kozak will be laid to rest at Mt Olive Cemetery.
