Looking ahead in 2026 with the Animal Shelter Society Inc.
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Let’s check in with April Gibson and the Animal Shelter Society Inc. for their first updates of 2026.
Gibson is the executive director of the Animal Shelter Society and said 2025 was a wonderful year with goals for an even better year in 2026. Their first major event of the year is the Snow Much Love feline adoption special.
“We have a lot of felines that are 6 months or older and so that makes their fees $35 and that includes their surgery, they’re fully vetted, flea and earmite medicine, microchip, vaccines, and so on and so forth,” Gibson said. “It’s kitties like Precious that get overlooked cause they are older and it shouldn’t be that way. You know we have a lot of kittens in foster care right now but you got to give these cats that are six months or older, you know, a chance cause all of them eventually grow up. ”
Another major highlighted event will take place on March 5 with their biggest fundraiser of the year, called Yappy Hour. The evening features delicious food from local chefs, drinks and unique auction items at the Zanesville Country Club.
“The sponsor forms are up and out. They’ve been mailed out this week. Tickets are available, you can call me here at the shelter at (740) 452-1077 or you can go on our Facebook page and you know it’s just really important. That’s how we’re able to keep 22 individuals, local individuals employed by this shelter,” Gibson said.
