Loren Schwartzmiller


Loren Schwartzmiller, 100, of Zanesville, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Thur. Jan. 27, 2022 at The Helen Purcell Home. He was born on Nov. 30, 1921 in Zanesville, a son of the late Ervin and Gladys (Lewis) Schwartzmiller. He worked at Dutro Ford and retired from Shelly & Sands. He loved golfing, working in the yard, and working on cars and lawn mowers. He was a member of Meadow Farm Church since 1955 where he sang in the choir. He was a World War II Army veteran and was inducted into the Muskingum County Veterans Hall of Fame in 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Elinor Schwartzmiller. Two children Dale (Nichole) Schwartzmiller and Nancy (Paul) Ragias. Two grandchilden Sam (Erin) Schwartzmiller and Marie (Ashton) Ragias-Gaitanos. Two great-grandchildren Scotia and Isla Schwartzmiller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson Nick Shepherd. One daughter-in-law Sandra Schwartzmiller. Three brothers Ervin Schwartzmiller, Donald Schwartzmiller, and Gary Fouch. The family would like to thank the staff at The Helen Purcell Home for their loving care.
Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sun. Jan. 30, 2022 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Mon. Jan. 31, 2022 at Meadow Farm Church with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Following the services Zanesville VFW and American Legion will conduct military honors and then a luncheon will be served at the church.
