Louvina I. ”Beanie” Smith, 94 of Columbus, formerly of Zanesville, died 6:08 AM, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus. She was born Sunday, January 5, 1930, in Zanesville, the daughter of Rev. Ralph & Francis (Norris) Tate. She married Arthur E. Smith, “the love of her life”, on Sunday, September 26, 1948, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1994.

Beanie worked at Brockway Glass retiring in 1992 following 17 years of service. Following her retirement she worked at Taco Bell for eight years. She loved to cook and was known for her world famous apple pie and homemade noodles.

Beanie is survived by two sons: Roger L (Fonda) Smith of Clayton and Randall K (Jean) Smith of Elryia; two daughters: Debbie (Bret) Fisher of Thornville and Leslie Renee (Mark) Male of Reynoldsburg; eight grandchildren: Scott (Rebecca) Smith of Charlotte, NC, Megan (Dan) Flanagan of Dayton, Kevin Smith of IN, Tiffany (Matt) Weatherspoon of Zanesville, Jamie (Sean) Darling of Avon, Nicole Fisher of Thornville, Cody Male of Hilliard and Caitlyn Male of Canal Winchester; ten great grandchildren: Alison Flanagan, Ryan Flanagan, Christopher Smith, Monty Smith, Asher Weatherspoon, Jack Darling, Claire Darling, Amiya Male, Ezekiel Simmons and Elias Simmons; two brothers: Kenneth Tate of Canal Winchester and Glenwood “Wimpy” Tate of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Beanie was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Smith; three brothers, Ernest Tate, James Tate and infant brother, Terry Tate; three sisters-in-law, Irma Tate, Rowena Tate and Maxine Tate and many extended family members including a special sister-in-law, Leota Morgan.

Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, Monday, April 22, 2024, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Paul Wallace officiating.
