Lydia Esther (Jurkovich) Albin, 90, of Cambridge – beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister – was peacefully called home to meet her Lord on Tuesday (May 21, 2024).

She was born September 18, 1933 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Stephen Jurkovich and Mary (Krupko) Jurkovich.

Lydia was a 1951 graduate of Buffalo High School. She had worked at Ekco and the Cambridge Country Club. She also had served on the Valley Township Board of Elections for thirty-two years.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, where she had been the organist and assistant organist since 1946. Additionally, she served on the Board of Missions & Evangelism, was a member of the Tabitha Society, and served as secretary for the church for many years.

Lydia enjoyed gardening, music, and bird watching. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Hershel Duane Albin, who passed away November 7, 2008; and her siblings, Steve Jurkovich, John Jurkovich, Dan Jurkovich, Paul Jurkovich, Mary Voytko, Bessie Voytko, Ann Vargo, and Olga Petrenko; and two infant sisters, Susan and Anna.

Lydia is survived by her daughters, Lura (& Alan) Zajc and Marie (& Jeff) Sigman; her son, Duane (& Angela) Albin; her brother, Sam Jurkovich; three sisters, Ruth Saporito, Millie Kushner, and Dorothy Obsuszt; seven grandchildren, David Sigman, Susan Sigman, Lee (& Randy) McGee, Joseph Zajc, Stephen Zajc, Samantha Albin, and Andrew Albin; three great-grandchildren, Nikol Sigman, Luke McGee, and Zena McGee; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Visitation will be held Friday (May 24, 2024) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (10252 Pine Street – Fairview Addition, Pleasant City OH), where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Chris Cahill officiating.

Burial will be at Buffalo Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions in Lydia’s name be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 10252 Pine Street – Fairview Addition, Pleasant City OH 43772. Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, is handling the arrangements.
